David Gaider Joins The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Narrative Team

Dragon Age veteran David Gaider has officially joined the development team for Owlcat Games' The Expanse: Osiris Reborn to shape its narrative direction.

Big news for sci-fi fans and RPG enthusiasts: David Gaider, the legendary creative mind behind Dragon Age and co-founder of Summerfall Studios, is officially collaborating with Owlcat Games on The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Gaider confirmed he is contributing to the game’s narrative design, bringing his extensive experience with complex storytelling to the upcoming title.

What David Gaider Brings to The Expanse: Osiris Reborn

David Gaider is no stranger to deep, choice-driven narratives. His portfolio includes writing for Baldur’s Gate 2 and Neverwinter Nights, as well as serving as lead writer for Dragon Age: Origins and Inquisition. By joining the team, Gaider bridges the gap between classic CRPG complexity and the cinematic ambition of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn.

  • Narrative Depth: Expect sharper dialogue and complex character arcs.
  • Genre Mastery: A unique blend of isometric CRPG sensibilities and third-person cinematic action.
  • Proven Track Record: Gaider’s experience with BioWare’s greatest hits ensures that the roleplaying elements will remain front and center.

A New Direction for Owlcat Games

While Owlcat is best known for its dense, isometric CRPGs like Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Rogue Trader, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn represents a shift toward a more cinematic, third-person shooter experience. Despite this pivot, the project maintains the studio’s hallmark focus on skill checks and narrative consequences.

The Expanse has long been one of my favourite series, and so obviously I jumped at the opportunity to be involved, says Gaider.

Refining the Player Experience

Beyond the narrative boost provided by Gaider, Owlcat is actively listening to community feedback to polish the final product. The studio recently announced a recasting of the game’s male protagonist and his twin. Voice actor Blythe Melin has taken on the mantle, tasked with the complex challenge of voicing two distinct, biologically related characters in a branching narrative environment.

This dual-role challenge highlights the technical and creative hurdles Owlcat is tackling to ensure that The Expanse: Osiris Reborn delivers a premium, immersive experience. With a veteran writer like Gaider onboard, the game is positioning itself as a must-play for fans of choice-heavy RPGs.
