Adam McArthur on the High Stakes of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3

Voice actor Adam McArthur opens up about the intensity of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 and how Yuji Itadori’s journey continues to shape his performance.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 has officially raised the bar for supernatural anime, bringing higher stakes and deeper character development to one of the medium’s biggest hits. At New York Comic Con 2026, we sat down with Adam McArthur, the English voice of the protagonist Yuji Itadori, to discuss the emotional weight of the current season and what it takes to portray such a pivotal character.

The Evolution of Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3

Coming off the chaotic intensity of the Shibuya Incident, the latest chapter of the series shifts into a more refined, cinematic gear. For McArthur, portraying Yuji means constantly returning to the core wisdom imparted by Yuji’s grandfather in the very first episodes. This foundational advice remains the lighthouse for Yuji’s decisions, even as his internal understanding of his own purpose undergoes a massive transformation.

McArthur highlighted a key moment during Yuji’s conflict with Kinji Hakari, noting that the character has fully embraced his role within the narrative’s grim reality. According to the actor, Yuji’s journey is defined by:

  • Acceptance of Fate: Yuji no longer hides from the truth; he recognizes himself as a vital cog in the machine.
  • The Cost of Duty: He remains committed to his mission of destroying curses until he burns out entirely.
  • Moral Clarity: Despite the overwhelming odds, he maintains the altruism that originally defined his path.

I think without the path that his grandpa sent him down, we wouldn’t necessarily have that speech and that realization from Yuji that he’s just a cog. It allows him to have this viewpoint that he brings up to Hakari about what their function is in all of that, says McArthur.

Beyond the Jujutsu World

While Yuji Itadori remains one of his most iconic roles, Adam McArthur is not slowing down. Fans of his work in hit series like Tokyo Revengers and Kaiju No. 8 have plenty to look forward to. Beyond his ongoing work in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, McArthur is already preparing for a high-profile starring role in the upcoming Netflix original anime series, Fool Night.

As the supernatural action continues to unfold, it is clear that McArthur’s dedication to his craft is a major part of why the English-language dub of the series remains a fan favorite. His ability to balance the raw vulnerability and hardened resolve of Yuji ensures that as the stakes reach a fever pitch, the audience remains anchored to the heart of the story.
