Konami Confirms Future Plans for More Silent Hill Games

Following the success of recent franchise entries, Konami has officially announced plans for second and third waves of new Silent Hill games.

If you thought the recent revival of the iconic psychological horror franchise was a one-off event, think again. Konami has officially confirmed that it is already developing more Silent Hill games as part of a multi-stage strategy to keep the series alive and terrifying for years to come.

The Success of the First Wave

For nearly a decade, the franchise remained dormant, famously suffering through the high-profile cancellation of Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills in 2015. However, the tide has turned. Recent releases, including the Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall, have been met with critical acclaim and strong commercial performance.

Producer Motoi Okamoto recently shared with Famitsu that Konami is feeling relieved and validated by this reception. According to Okamoto, the company views these three titles merely as the initial “first wave” of a much larger initiative designed to cement the franchise’s return to the gaming spotlight.

What to Expect from Future Silent Hill Projects

Konami is keeping specific details under wraps, but the roadmap is clear. Okamoto emphasized that simply releasing a single remake was insufficient, as it risked fueling fan anxiety that the project would be cancelled again. Instead, the team is aggressively planning for the future:

  • Second and Third Waves: The development cycle for the series is being expanded to include subsequent waves of projects.
  • Ongoing Development: Konami is currently evaluating a number of internal and external projects to continue the momentum.
  • Franchise Longevity: The goal is to prove to both stakeholders and fans that the series is back for the long haul.

We can’t share specific details, but we’re currently looking at a number of projects, stated producer Motoi Okamoto.

While we wait for official announcements on upcoming titles, the confirmation of these future waves suggests that the foggy, nightmare-filled streets of Silent Hill will remain a staple in the horror gaming landscape for the foreseeable future.
