007: First Light Extended Operations DLC Finally Delivers the Aston Martin Experience

The new 007: First Light Extended Operations DLC finally lets players get behind the wheel of the Aston Martin Valhalla in a high-speed mission.

If you felt that 007: First Light was missing that essential high-octane vehicular thrill, you aren’t alone. While the base game delivered some memorable cinematic moments, the glaring lack of proper Aston Martin gameplay left many fans feeling a bit short-changed. Fortunately, the new 007: First Light Extended Operations DLC has arrived to address these concerns, finally putting Bond back in the driver’s seat.

Finally Driving the Aston Martin Valhalla

The most anticipated addition in this free update is undoubtedly the Valhalla Protocol mission. Throughout the main campaign, the Aston Martin Valhalla teased players from the safety of a pedestal in Q-Lab, only to be relegated to a restrictive, non-interactive turret sequence. The new DLC changes the dynamic entirely:

  • Total Control: Players can now take the Valhalla out onto the winding roads of Slovakia.
  • Combat Capabilities: The mission features intense vehicular combat, allowing you to utilize the car’s built-in rockets and twin machine guns.
  • Target Practice: You will be tasked with hunting down drones and enemy vehicles in a high-speed pursuit that finally puts the ‘spy’ back in the driver’s seat.

New TacSim Missions and Gameplay Variety

Beyond the high-speed chases, the 007: First Light Extended Operations update expands the game’s TacSim mode, which offers a structured, arcade-like experience reminiscent of classic tactical simulations. This update introduces more than just a car chase; it adds significant replayability to the game’s already impressive environments.

The Jungle Heist Mission

Alongside the Valhalla Protocol, IO Interactive has introduced Jungle Heist. This mission takes the showstopper Vietnamese hotel from the campaign and reworks it into a randomized experience. Instead of a linear path, you are tasked with infiltrating luxurious villas to recover stolen documents from a secure safe, forcing players to adapt to changing enemy layouts and security measures.

The Extended Operations DLC is a welcome reminder that IO Interactive listens to community feedback, successfully turning a minor disappointment into one of the game’s most thrilling features.
