FromSoftware has never been known for simply handing out rewards on a silver platter, and the release of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition proves that Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team haven’t lost their touch for hiding secrets in plain sight. Among the new additions are the much-coveted Spectral Steed Regalias—customizable cosmetic skins for our beloved, double-jumping spectral horse, Torrent. While these bonuses are clearly designed to add a bit of extra flavor for players traversing the Lands Between, tracking them down requires venturing into familiar yet unexpectedly altered territory.
The first of these elusive items, the Spectral Steed Regalia: Tree Sentinel, can be claimed right after you overcome one of the early game’s most iconic hurdles: Godrick the Grafted. Once you finally put the twisted demigod in his place deep within Stormveil Castle, make your way into the throne room. Veteran players will recall a particular side room tucked behind the throne that previously served as a rather underwhelming, empty dead-end. Now, however, FromSoftware has rewarded our curiosity. Head through the right-hand doorway, and you will find a newly placed chest housing the Tree Sentinel armor set for your trusty mount.
Customizing Your Ride and Tracking Down the Rest
Equipping your newly acquired cosmetic is thankfully much easier than finding it. Once the regalia is in your inventory, simply rest at any Site of Grace scattered across the map. You will notice a new option allowing you to change spectral steed appearance, giving Torrent the imposing, golden-armored aesthetic of the very boss that terrorized us all near the Church of Elleh hours into our journey.
Of course, the hunt doesn’t stop there. The Tarnished Edition features three total Spectral Steed Regalias, with the remaining two paying homage to the fearsome Night’s Cavalry and the elegant Carian royalty. Given the structural logic of the Lands Between, savvy explorers are already casting their gaze toward Raya Lucaria Academy and the sprawling streets of Leyndell. Best of all, veteran players who have already conquered these regions long ago can simply load up their endgame saves, backtrack to these newly unlocked areas, and deck out their spectral steed without needing to start a brand new playthrough.
